'Cold Shower' in Budapest: Verstappen and Red Bull suffer unexpected fiasco

His problems only worsened in the race. A poor start dropped him several positions back, and struggling in heavy traffic on the narrow Hungarian track, where overtaking is extremely difficult, prevented him from regaining his lost ground. Furthermore, the team made a mistake in tire selection during the only pit stop, which completely ruined Max's chances of fighting for a podium place. As a result, he finished only ninth, losing a significant number of points.

This result was a real gift for his main rivals, who seized the opportunity to take advantage of their leader's misfortune. Now, before the summer break, Verstappen's lead in the drivers' standings has noticeably narrowed, and the second half of the season promises to be truly intense.

While the teams are analyzing their mistakes and preparing for the decisive battles, all eyes are on the championship finale, which will traditionally take place in Abu Dhabi. It is at this stage, renowned for its luxury and proximity to the Emirate of Dubai, that the new world champion will be named from 5th to 7th December 2025. The race at the Yas Marina Circuit will be the culmination of a thrilling season.
