Legendary Metallica to headline music programme at Formula 1 Etihad Airways Grand Prix in Abu Dhabi

On December 6, Metallica will take to the stage in the UAE for the third time in their history. They first performed here in 2011 on Yas Island. Their second performance was a resounding success in 2013, gathering a full house. And now, after more than a decade of absence, the band is returning in December 2025.

Metallica is rightfully considered one of the most influential and commercially successful heavy metal bands in history. Since their formation in 1981, they have sold over 150 million copies of albums worldwide. Their latest, 11th studio album, 72 Seasons, released in 2023, received rave reviews from critics and was awarded a Grammy Award in 2024 for Best Metal Album. The band is currently in the midst of their global M72 World Tour, which is now in its third year and continues to set attendance records, particularly in North America.

Post-race performances by world-class music stars have become an integral part of the atmosphere at the Formula 1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. In previous years, rock giants such as Muse and Foo Fighters have graced the Yas Marina stage. The success of these events is undeniable. In 2024 alone, more than 190,000 fans visited the Yas Marina circuit over the four days of the Grand Prix, many of whom came to see the spectacular concerts.
