Soon, bassist Ron McGovney joined the band, and Metallica began to actively play the Los Angeles club scene, quickly gaining a reputation for their powerful playing. However, in 1983, a major change occurred: Dave Mustaine left the band due to personal differences and alcohol problems. He was replaced by Kirk Hammett from the band Exodus, who brought more melodic elements to Metallica's sound. Around the same time, the band moved to San Francisco, where they were awaiting a more favorable music scene.

The move was an important milestone for the band: here they met talented bassist Cliff Burton, who added elements of progressive rock and jazz to their music. Burton became a key figure in the band, influencing the band's creative work. With the addition of Hammett and Burton, Metallica's classic lineup was formed, which many consider to be the golden age of their career.

Today, Metallica is recognized as one of the most commercially successful bands in the history of rock and metal. However, behind this success lies their significant musical legacy and influence on extreme music. They didn't just sell millions of records - they shaped the tastes of generations and set the standards for quality and complexity in the metal genre. From the furious onslaught of "Kill 'Em All" to the symphonic experiments of "S&M", they constantly pushed the boundaries of the genre, boldly experimenting with new forms.
