Enrique was born into a family of famous parents: his father is the legendary Spanish singer Julio Iglesias, and his mother is the famous Filipino TV presenter and socialite Isabel Preysler. The Iglesias family has roots in Galicia and Andalusia, and it is also claimed that they have Jewish and Puerto Rican ancestors. Enrique has citizenship in Spain, the United States and the Philippines. He has achieved incredible success, surpassing his relatives in popularity and financial well-being. Dreaming of becoming a singer like his father since childhood, Enrique began his musical journey in secret. He borrowed money from his nanny to record a demo tape with two songs in English and one in Spanish. At the beginning of his career, he performed under the pseudonym Enrique Martinez, indicating on the cover that he was from Guatemala.
Enrique Iglesias has set world records for the longest time at the top of the Hot Latin Songs chart, as well as for the number of No. 1 hits on this chart.
