Dubai to host women's tennis championship

«Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships» began in 1993, but then only men participated. Women were allowed in only eight years later. The Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships became the third tournament in the history of professional tennis, where equal prize medals were awarded for both men and women until 2021.

In women's doubles, Liesel Huber (2007-09, 2011-12) won the most titles (five), and together with her partner Cara Black (2007-09) - the most titles in a row (three). We will soon find out who will be lucky this year. The Dubai Tennis Championships is one of the most important sporting events not only in the Middle East, but also in the entire world.

The championship will be held from February 16 to March 1 next year. The player list for the 2025 championship will be announced soon, but it promises to be as stellar as before. Now that the women's tournament has received permanent WTA 1000 status, Dubai residents and visitors can look forward to the participation of 10 of the best WTA tennis players, including world number one Iga Svitek, three-time Grand Slam winner Aryna Sabalenka, 20-year-old American wunderkind Coco Gauff and the current Dubai champion Jasmine Paolini.

Tournament Director Salah Tahlak, who is also Deputy Managing Director of Dubai Duty Free, added that the rich tradition of this iconic event speaks for itself. The celebration of the 25th anniversary of the women's tournament is truly a historic event and testifies to the organisation, professionalism and dedication of all participants. The Dubai Tennis Championships is owned and organised by Dubai Duty Free and is held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
