Description

Lusail Stadium is an iconic sports venue in Qatar and one of the largest football arenas in the world today. The stadium is located in Lusail, approximately 20 kilometers from Doha, and is owned by the Qatar Football Association. At its opening, its capacity was 88,966 spectators, making it the largest stadium in the country and the Middle East, and one of the largest in Asia.

The design and construction of Lusail Stadium began well before the 2022 World Cup. Work began in April 2017, and the project was implemented by the international consortium HBK Contracting in collaboration with China Railway Construction Corporation. The stadium's grand opening took place on September 9, 2022, with the Lusail Super Cup match. The culmination of its history was the 2022 FIFA World Cup final between Argentina and France, held here on December 18. The arena hosted ten matches during the tournament, including the final.

The stadium features modern engineering solutions and an environmentally friendly approach. Like other World Cup arenas, Lusail Stadium is equipped with a solar-powered cooling system and is billed as a zero-carbon facility. In August 2022, the project received a five-star GSAS rating for architecture, sustainability, and construction quality.

After the World Cup, the arena is scheduled for transformation: its capacity will be reduced to 40,000 seats, and some of the infrastructure will be converted into public spaces, shops, cafes, sports, and educational areas. Over the years, Lusail Stadium has hosted the finals of the 2023 Asian Cup, the 2024 Intercontinental Cup, the 2025 Arab Nations Cup, and will also host the 2026 Finalissima between Spain and Argentina. Today, it is a key venue for major international events, and you can buy tickets for matches and other events taking place at Lusail Stadium on our website.
