Denis Rodkin

Denis Rodkin was born on July 3, 1990, in Moscow. During his school years, he studied guitar at the Krasnyy Oktyabr Palace of Culture. Then he was engaged in dancing - he studied step. Once on television, he saw the ballet Spartacus, where the famous Soviet dancer Vladimir Vasiliev shone in the main role. Since then, he decided to become a ballet dancer. In 2009, he graduated from the choreographic school at the Moscow State Academic Dance Theatre Gzhel. In the same year, he got into the Bolshoi Ballet Troupe. Denis's teachers were Nikolai Tsiskaridze and Yuri Vladimirov. Currently, the teacher-tutor of the artist is Alexander Vetrov. In 2013, he graduated from the Choreography and Pedagogical Faculty of the Moscow State Academy of Choreography. In addition, Denis Rodkin has a second higher education. He graduated from Lomonosov Moscow State University (Faculty of Cultural Policy and Humanitarian Management).

Denis Rodkin's touring activity also amazes, surprises, and confirms the young artist's incredible ability to work. In 2014, he performed at the Mariinsky Theatre as Jose in the ballet Carmen Suite as part of a gala concert in honor of the anniversary of the ballerina and teacher Olga Moiseeva, performed at the closing ceremony of the XX Olympic Games in Sochi, performed at the XIV International Mariinsky Ballet Festival as Prince Siegfried in the ballet Swan Lake. In 2015, he performed the role of Jose in the ballet Carmen Suite at the Naples San Carlo Theatre as part of the XV Alla Shelest Classical Ballet Festival. He performed the role of Prince Désiré in The Sleeping Beauty ballet with the troupe of the Samara Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre. In 2016, he participated in Svetlana Zakharova's creative evening "Amore." It took place on the stages of Modena, Parma (Italy), the Bolshoi Theatre (Moscow), as well as Ravenna, Genoa (Italy), and Monte Carlo (Monaco). He also performed the role of Jose (Carmen Suite) on the stage of the Neapolitan theatre "Politeama." In 2017, he performed the title role in the ballet Spartacus with the Royal Ballet of Flanders (Belgium), the part of Count Albrecht in Giselle with the ballet of the Massimo Theatre in Palermo on the stage of the Green Theatre, the part of Prince Désiré (The Sleeping Beauty) with the ballet troupe of the Samara Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre as part of the XVII A. Shelest Classical Ballet Festival, the part of Count Albrecht in the ballet Giselle with the Sofia National Ballet (Bulgaria) on the stage of the National Palace of Culture. In 2018, Denis performed the title role in the ballet Spartacus and the part of Solor (La Bayadère) with the ballet troupe of the Novosibirsk State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre, the part of Solor (La Bayadère) with the Korean troupe Universal Ballet in Seoul (Korea), the King Sejong Performing Arts Center.

Denis has many well-deserved awards. In 2014, the prize of the Ballet magazine "Soul of Dance" (nomination "Rising Star"). In 2016, Oleg Yankovsky's award for "Creative Discovery" of the 2015-2016 season. In 2017, Denis Rodkin was named the best dancer of the year (2016) by the Italian magazine DANZA & DANZA. He also received the prize of the International Association of Choreographers "Benois de la Danse" for performing the role of Solor in the ballet La Bayadère. In 2018, he received the award of the President of the Russian Federation for young cultural figures.
