Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari

Description

The Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari, located in the south of the Italian town of Imola, is a classic example of a European race track. The name of the track commemorates the founder of Ferrari, Enzo, and his son Dino. The track is most often called by its location - "Imola".

In 1980, Imola entered the Formula 1 calendar for the first time, becoming the venue for the 50th Italian Grand Prix.

The track was built in 1950 and immediately won the hearts of racers thanks to its smooth configuration. In the early 1970s, two chicanes (narrow turns) were added to reduce speeds on the track, and another one 10 years later.

The track suffered several tragic accidents in the 1990s, and in 2007, the San Marino Grand Prix disappeared from the Formula 1 calendar.

In 2020, motorsport fans once again had the chance to visit the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari, as the round was reintroduced to the Formula 1 program this fall as part of the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix. In addition to racing, the circuit is actively used for track and field and cycling competitions.

Today, the length of the track is 4.909 km, and its uniqueness is that traffic on it is counter-clockwise, which is rare on international tracks.

Such famous racers as Jacques Villeneuve, Ayrton Senna, Mika Hakkinen and many others celebrated their victories on this track.

From May 16 to 18, 2025, the track will again host the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix. Spectators will be able to enjoy three days of racing, 63 laps, more than 300 kilometers of exciting competition and see the performances of the best racers in the world.
